The new way of adding displacement - what is the advantage?

I might be doing this wrong but...when I need to add displacement I now need to select every group in my model to add displacement.

Am I'm doing this right? if so what is the advantage of that, instead of just adding it to the material?

Hi Jorgensen_cg,

In this particular case I guess the material displacement is the better option.
You just have to make sure the material with the displacement is applied to the top-most group.

The issue with the geometry displacement is that it can't be applied to groups or components that have nested child groups.
This is something we should be able to address at one point.

The small popup information at the displacement options, says that the option will be removed.

We won't remove anything until the new workflow is perfect.
