  • Lightgen with Multiple HDRI

    Hi,

I was creating a tutorial on using multiple hdri with lightgen and I noticed that in the lightmix, it shows up as "LIGHT GEN DOME 0"

Does this mean that the multiple hdris combine into "one main hdri" in the lightgen or is it generating variables only from one HDRI (and not combining the three)?

Also, would it be possible to have an option to tweak the HDRIs individually in the lightmix rather than having to tweak just the main "LIGHT GEN DOME 0" (after loading it in the VFB)?

This way I have further creative capabilities. Great job on the latest update guys! Loving the product so far.

    Hi manishpaul_simon,

The first time you apply a Light Gen scenario to the model a dome light called LIGHT_GEN_DOME will be automatically created and used to recreate the scenario conditions.
If you then apply another scenario after that Light Gen will reuse the same Dome light and just change the HDR image and it's rotation.
The way we're identifying the Dome light is by its name.

So in order to produce multiple Dome lights in the scene based on different Light Gen scenarios you should apply the following steps:
    1. Apply a Light Gen scenario.
    2. Rename the LIGHT_GEN_DOME to anything else (Dome_01 - for example).
    3. Apply another Light gen scenario.
    4. Rename the LIGHT_GEN_DOME to anything else.
    5. Repeat
At the end you should see multiple dome lights in the asset editor - all but one are going to be disabled.
Make sure to enable all of them and proceed to render with the Light Mix feature.

    Hope that helps,
    Konstantin

Thanks a lot Konstantin. This will help.
I was adding the lightgen lights with the lightmix feature turned on.
