to mac M1 owners

Hi, everyone!

I'm thinking about upgrading my imac to latest M1 8C CPU.
What's your opinion about its performance? 8 cores on M1 means 16 threads? And what's about RAM usage? 16Gb is enough?

M1 do not have multithreading and of the 8core only 4 are performance core, the other 4 are slower efficiency core. That being said it is still as fast as a modern 8core/16thread from Intel/AMD, or even faster for single threaded tasks.
16GB may be enough depending on your needs, regardless MacOS have an excellent memory management so you can easily render scenes that would have required twice the RAM otherwise.
Wait until March, it’s very likely that some Macs will receive an update with newer SoC.
