  • Can we have nightly builds for Vray for sketchup?

    Hi
Sometimes we have to wait for weeks or months for a resolved issue, for vray for Maya and 3d max You have this options (nightly builds when You fix an issue) we should have this options too.

Why i have to wait weeks or months for something that should be fine. I have to wait for the next hotfix or the next update. We are proffesionals and sometimes we don't have the time to wait for the next update or the next hotfix, ( we have to render a scene for a client in a specific moment) the solutions should be bring fast and in easy acces for vray users.

Please consider more resources to vray for sketchup, sometimes we need to render a scene with the old builds and if it doesnt work i have to wait a Lot of time to get the issue resolved in weeks or months for the last issue.

We need nightly builds... You only bring it for 3d max and maya... I don't like that!!! Is not fair!!!

    Thanks

    Hi luisgamino2,

Even though the 3ds Max and Maya nightlies are available it is not recommended to use them in production.
They are mostly for new functionality to be tested by users and issues to be reported.

We made a decision to stop user access to our nightlies since everyone is using them in production.
And sometimes, especially when we make big changes, this leads to corrupted files that do not get migrated correctly to the official supported state.
We however have the option to publish Stable builds that you can download and use more or less safely.
We haven't had stable builds lately since we've been rapidly releasing hotfixes.

You also have to understand the following:
The nightlines for 3ds Max contain all V-Ray Core changes that have been done.
Our nightlies on the other hand do not include the latest Core, they are most often based on the latest officially released Core version.
This means that even if we give you access to the nightlies, you'll still have to wait for Core (and GPU) fixes to be included.

One more thing I have to mention here is that issues are not always fixed that quickly even in the nightlies.
For example most of the things you reported last time were fixed and made it in the nightlies just a couple of days ago.

The god news is we have a new hotfix coming very soon.

    Regards,
    Konstantin
