  • Exclude from Contours

Is it possible to exclude an object(s) from the contour feature? I am using a few instances of fur and it just looks like a mess when countours are applied to it.

    Hi,

This is not possible at the moment.
However there is workaround, use the Toon material insted of the Contours option(they are kinda the same). Apply the material on the objects you wish the contours to be visible.
I know this is not the most convenient solution but it possible to have some objects with ontours and some not.

Thank you, this is a good workaround but for my project, I need everything except the items with fur to have contours, so that would take too much effort. Alternatively, I rendered out contours as a render element and added in post as needed.

        Hi,

Yes, this is actually the better workaround.

          Hello, Matthew,

Objects cannot be excluded from the global contour effect but their materials can (in your case, the materials used by Fur assets).
Here are the steps achieve this:
          1. Select a material.
          2. Add a Contour attribute to it.
          3. Set the Contour opacity to 0.

              Hi,

The workflow suggested by Peter works just fine.
A slight improvement I'd recommend is to set the line Width to 0 instead of tweaking the Opacity.
This might be the more performant option but I'm not 100% sure.

I can confirm that setting the width to 0 is faster to render.
