  • Saving a custom material with a custom size

I notice that materials from the V-Ray library when imported to the scene will have a predetermined size applied to it. But when we create our own material and save it, even if we changed the dimension before saving, it will revert back to 10" when imported the next time. Is there a way to save a custom material with a predetermined size?

    Good point!
I was asking myself exactly the same question just a few days ago.
I hope Chaos will allow us to achieve the same thing.

Materials from the Cosmos library are in correct sizes. As far as I understand all materials will be migrated to the Cosmos library soon. So the problem will be solved by itself.

We discuss the problem with our own self-created materials. Not the ones from the official Chaos library.

            Hi guys,

If you include a size at the end of a material name, similar to what's done with the default library material names, the size will be set on import.
Note that at this stage the only suffixes we support are cm and m

            Example:
            1. Create a Generic material - "Generic"
            2. Set it's texture and size (setting the size before saving the material is not a requirement)
            3. Add 2m at the end of the material name (separated by a space or an underscore) - "Generic 2m"
            4. Save the material in a custom library location
            5. Import the material in any project and its SketchUp size will be set according to the name suffix

              Hi Konstantin,

              it's perfect.

And in the case of a rectangular map, it's the width that is taken into account, not the height.
