  • Vray SketchUp what determines a bitmap tile start position?

Using a Vray material with a bitmap, setting the correct size of that "image" within SU, what determines where on the geometry that bitmap tiling starts?

    Hello richard_harling1,
    Thank you for your question.

In SketchUp when you create a new geometry the UV mapping of the object is set depending on the object’s axis position. Please see examples below:

In V-Ray material settings you can set Binding > Texture Mode > Texture Helper for visual representation of the UV mapping which can be helpful for further adjustments.

If there is any specific question or geometry you would like us to review please share.

Also, please kindly note that I will move your topic to the SketchUp section.

Ok nice one, thanks Natalia, I figured it was the axis that determined the tiling start position. Ok that tiling key should help now I know what to look for.

      Thanks again Natalia

        Hi richard_harling1,

Note that a custom texture placement is also respected by V-Ray.
The bottom line is that what you see in the viewport (in terms of placement) is what V-Ray is going to render.
