  • Scatter - How to Control edges + Timeline for Update?

    Hi Chaos Group + Forum,

With the absence of trim features available for Scatter in Vray is there a workround to define edges? I have heard of using Clipper to hide the proxies beyond the perimeter but this also then hides other parts of the model on the other side of the same perimeter. (see image)

In January 2023 the forum was told by Chaos that this was a feature that was to be implemented 'soon', (10 months later... nothing) and it was again suggested last month in a separate thread that Scatter within Vray was being overhauled but likely still without a way to trim and would be released 'very soon' ???

Can anyone give us an indication if this is actually still in the works?

Without it i will reluctantly have to revert back to using the third party Skatter plugin which, whilst more difficult to use, has far greater functionality and control.

Can confirm we are working at full steam to bring the complete feature set of Chaos Scatter to V-Ray for SketchUp.

The initial plan was to have everything ready for v6.1 (May, 2023). That version of Scatter, however, still faced some limitations and so a decision was taken to completely rewrite it.
Some options, namely Edge trimming, are actively being developed right now while others are already prepared for shipping.
The improved solution will be published with the upcoming v6.2 update.

      Hi Peter,
This is positive and open feedback thank you.
I can only hope that the development of edge trimming (or at least other surface or object avoidance) can be implemented into the next version of Vray 6.2 as it is currently very limiting in its use without.
I look forward to the release of version 6.2.

Thanks for the continuing development of the sketchup division.
