  • Looking for exterior light settings that simulate an overcast day . . . no shadows.

    Hi,

I'm new to V-Ray for Sketchup (2024, Mac Studio, OS Sonoma) and am learning the ropes. I have a project that will look very good with an overall general illumination without shadows, or at most gentle, diffuse ones.

The various surfaces should receive similar amounts of light, like a bright, overcast day. (Architectural photographers wait for days like this!)

So for you really good V-Ray pilots, can you help me with the settings that will produce this lighting? Is there an HDRI dome that would work best?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't use SU, but yes, find the correct HRDI that is overcast.

You can use an overcast HDR or simply a Vray sun sky set in overcast mode, then increase sun size until you get soft shadows.
