  • Help with rendering

    Hi

I try to achive a nice rendered picture of a aluminium profile cut out (see picture). And i need to have it with transparent background.
But if i render it just with lights its very hard to get it to look good, because the lights are not bouncing at something. If i make a backdrop the product looks better but i dont want the backdrop to show in the png file.. Can i make it transparent but still affect the environment,.?

    Hi,

You can do the following (Option 1):
    1. Navigate to the Environment settings
    2. Remove the Background texture and leave the color black
    3. Add a spherical HDR image to the Reflection, GI and Refraction slots (as an instance)
    4. Render

If you save the image now the background is going to be transparent.

    Option 2:
    1. Remove all environment textures (use black color)
    2. Create a Dome light
    3. Add the spherical environment image in the dome
    4. In the Dome Options make the Dome Invisible
    5. Render
    Both options are similar.
However with option 2 you'll get direct light emission from the Dome instead of relying on pure GI for the indirect lighting.
Option 2 is better for objects using mostly diffuse materials.
If you're mostly dealing with metallic reflections both options are identical.

    Hope that helps,
    Konstantin

As a note, "affect alpha" option in dome light settings should be uncheck as i know, to get png output..
