  • Freezes on Vista

I'm having some problems installing vray for Sktetchup 6.0 on Vista 32 and 64.

It seems to freeze at the point where I have to select if i have a serial or want to evaluate. I can't select anything. It just freezes

I have tried both running Sketchup in compatibility mode, and as administrator.

Have anyone got it to run on Vista ? 32 and 64 ?

    Re: Freezes on Vista

Well, perhaps the saddest news of the day...we are not supporting Vista yet. We have not had time or staff to test on Vista. It is high on our list of things to do along with a MACOS build.

        Re: Freezes on Vista

        ....Ouch,
Vista should be supported right away.
I am planning to put in an order for 1 license, but I need Vista compatibility.
Should be n°1 on your to do list.

I am happy to see that you guys (Asgvis) moved on to the final version.
With some good marketing, we should be seeing more projects coming up in the gallery from new users.

        Good luck,

          Re: Freezes on Vista

You can make it work on Vista if you set the compatibility to be XP. Do this by right-clicking on the application shortcut or exe (whichever you use to launch the application ) and go to Properties->Compatibility. Enable the compatibility and set it to be XP.

Having played around with my display settings, Vray now seems to run fine on Vista x64

Could you post what display settings you messed with? Just for other users that may run into the same issue. Thanks

                    Hi Joe

Sorry for this late post, but as I did'nt have this problem, I did not read this thread

I had to reinstall, and therefore had the problem again.

                    What I did:
I have the nvidia 8800GTX GFX.

                    Installed the latest driver
                    opened the nvidia controll panel
turned all on off or low / performance

And Sketchup starts, and I can now Authorize VRay

                    Hope this help.

                      Re: Freezes on Vista

Yes. The problem is that Vray for SU doesn't support Aero.

So, if you switch your screen color to 16 bits (instead of 32) it should work properly.

                      Regards,
