  • Demo limitations?

What are the limitations of the demo version?
What about render size? I tried to render a 4000 pixel image overnight but only got "error saving file".
I also tried 1600x1200 but didnt get anything.
What are the rendersize limits for the purchased version? Some info on memory needs would be great. And some info on render optimisations.
I didnt find any info about it and I dont get any info about it in the progress info window either.
If the demo has a resolution limit I think it would be a good idea to inform the user of it if he's used a too big size before a render starts.

    Re: Demo limitations?

Our demo has no limitations at the moment - aside from any that may be imposed by your own machine's physical limits. If it failed to render a very large image then perhaps you should try rendering to a vrimage. This essentially renders to disk and frees up some RAM. You can enable rendering to a vrimage in the Output section of our options.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I'll try that.
(I've got 3 gb ram and havent been able to render anything bigger tham 1600 pixels wide.)

How does one open (resave to exr) the vrimage fileformat?

The only way to save to a VRimage is to specify before the start of the render, you can't do it afterwards. After that you need the VRimage to EXR converter which should be under the tools section of downloads.

The vrimage converter is only available to customers due to licensing reasons. But you can save the VFB output directly to exr, and you really should be able to render a 1500x1200 if you have 3gig of ram ( unless the scene or textures are enormous ).

            Re: Demo limitations?

            Good day people.

I have a simple question to ask. What is the minimum requirement to run the Sketchup with Vray? Ram, processors etc? Is there a tutorial section on rendering and making some 3d's? If yes, where? Thanks!

I run VfS on my old hp laptop with 512 ram. The more RAM the better - I would suggest 2 gigs, but you can get away with less. You can grab the VfS user manual in our downloads section.

Hello Joe! Thanks for the reply. I'm very impressed and pleased at what this program can do. The images created by our Sketchup users are close to real. Impressive! I can't wait to get hold of it.
