I'm in a bit off a hurry - so I'm looking for a shortcut to create an architectual glass material.

I think the current material is to reflective on the 'bubble', and to low on the other parts.

Can anyone share some good settings ?

sorry for 'cheating' - but this case has a very short deadline

From what I can see in your image, the bubble is reflecting because it has something to reflect (i.e. the tower block behind it) whereas the other glass doesn't have anything to reflect so it doesn't!

If you look at the study I did, (http://www.asgvis.com/index.php?opti...0&topic=2234.0) you will see that all you need to do is adjust the the black fresnel colour to adjust the reflection. But with nothing to reflect you will get nothing. You could try a hdr image as a background, or just a regular image - I have been using a billboard, but there may be a neater way to do this (?).

It may also be a function of the IOR.

I will try to upload my (single skin) architectural glass vismat to the download area in the next 24 hrs. if the system will let me.

Hi David (I hoped that you would reply )

Thanks your input. I have seen your super ongoing work on the facade, it did end up being very nice. I'm looking forward to your upload.

I will try to have a look at the HDI - but this (and VRay) is quit new to me.

I've put the 'architectural glass' vismat in the downloads section. Hope you find it works ok for you.

          Re: Glass

David hit the nail on the head as far as the bubble having "something" to reflect and the work around for getting rid of it. The other thing with the bubble is that it is being viewed from glancing angles, which will cause it to be more reflective. To decrease the affect of this you can try lowering the Index of Refraction (IOR) in the Fresnel settings to something like 1.3 or something like that, but as long as it gets lower than 1.55 (the default) then you should notice a difference.

As for the reflections on the building the exact opposite is the issue. Due to the less extreme angle that your viewing the surface it has weaker reflections. There are two ways you could work around this; change the minimum reflection color (the black color in the Fresnel settings), or increase the IOR value which will make it more reflective at the angle that your looking at it. There is "something" for those windows to reflect, its just a matter of that "something" being indistinct and uninteresting.

For buildings like this which aren't really about whats going on inside, but more about the environment that its in, I typically try to have a much more highly reflective glass then I would normally use. This takes the focus off whats happening within the building and more about whats around it and its environment.
