  • How to make jpeg into glass material

    Good day sir/s!

I have a question to everyone, how can I make the inserted (jpeg)image in my drawing a glass material? I've seen many SU vray users do that all the timw. Can you share me the step by step process on how to do it and if there is any tutorial or link to it.

Also, when I insert an image(jpeg) picture in my drawing, I couldn't render it? The finished rendered perspective doesn't have the image that I inserted(imported). Why is that so? Moreover, I don't know how to tweak the transparency of the jpeg material. Please help.

    Thanks a lot!

I believe the only way in sketchup to make an image "glass" would be if it has alpha. If I'm remembering right I don't think JPEG images have an alpha channel. Also, when you say you insert a jpeg into the file - do you mean you apply it to a surface?

Yes and no. I want to make the the jpeg image as background of the model. I've solved the glass mystery behind it by adjusting its opacity but i can't add the jpeg to use it as a background to my model.

You can set the background texture by going to our Options - Environment tab and clicking the "m" next to Background. That will bring up our texture editor and you can swap out whatever the current background is with a bitmap texture. If you haven't done so already you can grab the Sketchup user manual from our Downloads- My Files - V-Ray for SketchUp section. That should help you get your feet wet with some of the settings.
