    im on page 11 of the pdf manual, im trying to render the chair scene as is shown but keep getting shadows rather than global illumination, whats going wrong?

    The sun is active in you're scene, and believe it or not GI is working (notice how the shadows aren't completely black). To deactivate the sun you will need to disable Default Lights in Global switches. As well as go to Camera and deactivate the physical camera (with out doing that things will appear black). And then go to environment and remove the Sky from the maps (click on the capital M and change the type to none). Now it should be working as is instructed in the manual...sorry for the confusion, but our defaults changed when we had it 90% finished and if you work from the referenced scenes (at least the rhino ones anyway) you won't have to worry about the changed defaults getting in the way. Also check page 7 or 8...it should let you know what is going on with all of the default settings and where in the manual you can get more info.
