  • general lighting questions

i am new to vray and struggling to understand how to balance general illumination and individual lights. i am trying to create a dusk scene with interior lighting glowing from within and some neon signage. i used an emissive material to create the neon, but i had to crank the intensity ridiculously high to get it to glow...now i have unwanted noise in the image. is there a better way to do this? i'm having the same issue with rectangular lights...they've got to be multiplied by 300 to read the way i want. any suggestions???

i would upload images, but i don't know how

    thanks!

    Re: general lighting questions

    Hi,

To crank the intensity up to 300 is quiet normal. considering the global camera settings ( day light)
Do you use physical camera ?
If so, you should tweak it like a photograph would ( longer shutter speed, bigger aperture, ISO 400,..) that should resolve your noise issue..

I didn't try emissive materials yet, I stick to Omni and rectangular...and I crank them up a lot ..

    yes, please post your picts
