  • Certain 'spots'??

    hi,
i get these certain 'spots' while rendering...
the settings are from mados kitchen renders :
    IR+LC
min and max IR maps at -4 and -2
    LC sub divisons at 600
i had tried crankin up the above settings to : min and max IR maps to -3 and 0 and the LC sub diviosns to 1000..... but the problem still persists..
its not that problematic in the day render but in the night render the occurance of the spots are more!
any ideas as to what might be the cause?? i used "ONE" huge Vray rect light to light up the recessed light fixtures.. is that a factor?? should i give small rectangular lights to each of the recessed light fixtures individually???

    maybe not related,
Do you use refract settings for the water ?

I got same spots usually when I need to setup water into the scene. I think it is caustics issue?

      Tom,
initially i thought it was caustics issue too... but even after removing the refraction settings from the water and chkin that all refraction and caustics options were off in the settings menu the spots still persist... am i missing something here??
besides the problem arose only while tryin to render the night scene with the huge vray rectangle light!

Mmmh, did you try with different render settings like that one ?

        http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R...nisettings.htm

I got a lot of corruptions with transparent and/or water materials, as well

Usually I can live with that. In Photoshop I select the 255³ color in the picts, move the selection to the right about 1 or 2 pixels then copy/paste on the corrupted pixels.

I know it is twisted, but it usually works..

        cheers

well it seems the problem is solved... the receptable lights which i used before was a huge rectangular vray light... when i changed it with individual smaller rectangular lights the spots dont appear!
          thanx anyways!

Thats because the smaller individual lights will have a better distribution of subdivisions leading to a smoother result. Having a big light across a big area w/ small openings is going to be much harder to get the needed level of sampling for a smooth result.

so this is the answer why i have smoother result. many sent me private messages on this and i cant really find the explanation. i often use smaller individual lights.
