  • Warm Architectural Exteriors

I'm trying to get a warm architectural exterior like the one shown on Vray for Rhino tutorial (http://www.asgvis.com/index.php?opti...d=22&Itemid=57).

    I'm using Universal V-Ray 1.5 settings (http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R...ings.htm#setup) with phisical camera enabled (Shutter Speed= 250, F- Number= 8, ISO= 200, phisical Sky environment...) and this is the farest i've gone:

    I would like to know:

1- Is it possible to add a yellowish distant light like in Rhino tutorial? (I have tried with vray lights but they don't affect very much to the model not even setting the light multiplier to 9000, and when finally i am able to see the yellow color in my model it doesn't add a warm effect)

2- How do i make an environment map like the image 2 of that tutorial to use as my environment? (It says that i have to render the scene without anylight from the top view, but doing that i dont get the same result)

    3-
How do I improve the render quality for final presentations? (look at the points where the chair touches the floor, there are some strange lights) I don'k know what parameters increase. In the Universal Settings page says that "Leave all subdivs anywhere at their default values. They won't have any effect anyways - the 100 AA subdivs will almost certainly override everything else" so i don't know what to do.

    Many thanks for your help!

    Re: Warm Architectural Exteriors

Well, as far as I know, that tutorial wasn't done with the physical sky, which is typically more blue. You can change the appearance through turbidity (increasing it) and Ozone (setting it to 0). Beyond that, you may want to mess with the white balance of the camera to counter act some of the blueness and adjust the color a little bit.

        Re: Warm Architectural Exteriors

Thanks you for your suggestions Dalomar. Very usefull as always!

I'm making an architectural project for University and want to get a warm effect for my building, something like this:

I like using Phisical sky, because that way i can show different lighting for each moment of the day. But although i try with a lot of different parameters (shutter speed, iso, turbidity... i cant get that effect. The sun always seems to be very bright, the shadows very solid and model textures overburned.

        This is a fast render:

I tried to ounter act some of the blueness of the phisical sky with white balance, but it seems that you have to choose the opposite color you want to get, so it's a little hard.

If i have to say the truth i don't understand very well the rhino tutorial. It says that we have to make an environment map like this

and then render the model with global illumination and a distant light created with that environment map, but i don't know how to do it.

I have tried to use GI only render for final presentations, but i always get a very dark model:

I would like to use GI + a distant light, but i don't know how to make that gradient background not the distant light.

P.D.: I`m sorry chutrung but i can't understand your post
