  • Material Scaling

The material that I'm using appears very small on the object. Is there any way to scale it without having to adjust the original image?

      Re: Material Scaling

You need to re-size the texture image in sketchup, in the material editor. Simply choose a different size for the image.

but then u gotta make sure ur materials are linked materials.. coz only then the changes that happen in SU will be correspondingly made in the Vray materials as well!

          Re: Material Scaling

I would always start with the materials applied in sketchup
1 - you can immediately see what you are getting
2 - you can scale and rotate the texture etc
3 - it provides the UV info for vray

only if you want to apply further layers (bump, reflection), is it necessary to either link the material or apply a vray material (I do this for glass)

          Regards

            Re: Material Scaling

The recommended workflow is through a SU linked material. The main issue is because SU does not create UV information for a object unless you have a SU material with a texture applied. Without that UV information it will be very hard to get things adjusted right.

I am new with dese kind of programs and i do not know hou to use the SU linkt material.

I am using when I download a Texture form this site than I need to set the UVW at U 0.002 & V 0.002 to see a correct texture in my renders.

              What am I doing wrong...??

                Re: Material Scaling

1 - download the vray material
2 - in sketchup, 'import' the material and apply to the model
3 - this is then a regular sketchup material and can be re-sized, rotated, re-positioned etc. in sketchup
4 - if you want bump etc. then follow the tutorial for creating a vray linked material. so that you can apply the bump map that came withthe downloaded material.

                Good luck

                    Re: Material Scaling

I am pretty sure that the bump map will be scaled the same as the texture (it will get its uv info from the same place) so you don't have to adjust anything.
