  • Strange Noise in mij test render? Can somebody help me?

    Hello,

I'm trying a trail version of Vray the familiarize myself with 3D rendering.

I have made an render of a few glasses with whiskey an ice cubes. I'n pretty pleases with the result except the fact that I have a strange noise in my glasses. I uses the light cashe setting and caustics on 300. I also uses HDRI. Check my picture I included to see the problem.

I'm new to this so maybe somebody can help me find the problem.

Thanks in advance for the help

    greetz,
    Neil

It looks like overlapping, or coplanar, faces. Thats all I can really tell you from just the image. I would try it without the caustics and see if that helps anything, cause I could see some weird caustics setting causing that maybe

Thanks Dalomar for your quick reaction.

I'm gonna try a render without the caustics an see what happens. Tomorrow (monday) I will post the result. The only thing I'm wondering that it should be possible to use the caustics settings. But that is a later problem.

Thanks and you'll hear from me tomorrow,

I'v tried turning off the caustics settings, but it didn't make any diffence. It was a problem with the faces so I shricked the liquid a little and the noise was gone. I t looks better, but still I see some strange white faces in my render. I don't know where they come from and I think the overall render it looks a little bit fake.

I hope somebody can help my to make it work right.

          Thanx in advance,

          greetz,

well, you'll probably need to remodel the liquid. It looks as though its just the top surface, which won't do. You will have to model the whole volume of the liquid, and then actually make it slightly bigger then the glass. Those white areas look like the same culprit. Also you may want to increase the max depth in global switches if you haven't already
