  • 2d Billboards? Can u help

I have been following the tutorial below but alass i have nad no luck. I am trying to create 2d billboards in my render but i cant get rid iof the black background around the image as link shows. I import my image as a texture the scale it correctly on a face. I link this using vraylnkmat. This all works fine and rendered the image. Then i add the transparancy map over it using the aplha image but however i do it it does not get rid of the black background not even in the preview.

I have tried it another way buy importing the image directly into vray and then adding the alpha. This seem to work fine in the preview but when rendered the image tiles at a tiny scale and the background is still present.... Please can anyone help me out....

Also if anyone can let me know what VfR is it would me much appreciated

'Billboards are simple planes in virtual scenes with mapped peoples, animals or trees. The material is simple - a textured diffuse layer and a transparency map. VfR need transparency maps, but often alpha maps are to get. No problem, only the "invert" option must be set at the transparency map'.
