Any help would be appreciated. I have been all through the manual, and I have tried everything (I think), but in my rendering, I cannot get the shadows to show up. I have thme on in Sketchup and they show up, however in the rendering, they are absent. What am I missing? Thank you.

Re: Lighting and Shadows
ok, sorry for my english but I write so and so...ok, look if the shadows are activated in Global Switches; if yes go to environment, open the windows to GI and background( Push M),ok? So push update and after apply for GI and background and the shadows are in your render.
This because sometimes the shadows didn't load in scene...

Re: Lighting and Shadows
Your english is great. Unfortunately that did not solve my problem. There must be another setting that I am overlooking. Sadly I have tried everything that I have read and nothing seems to fis the problem. I get a very plain rendering with no light or shadow. Thank you anyways.

Re: Lighting and Shadows
It could be one of three things, I think. First, at the bottom of the sky dialog box are the shadow options. There you can enable/disable shadows. Make sure thats enabled and test. If that still doesn't do it, then go to Global Switches. There is a check box there to enable/disable shadows. Make sure that one is checked as well. Lastly, it may be a small bug which messes with the sun settings (usually it just messes up the position). Try saving your settings and reloading them.Damien Alomar
Generally Cool Dude

Re: Lighting and Shadows
Mind if i jump in.......
In the Render option dialog box, select Environment
There are two options GI and background....both should be checked on
See if the 'M' beside GI is capital or small...it should be capital....anyway select the m to bring up vray texture editor....in the Type roll out option select Sky. Then on the top of the texture editor new options will show up....Near where there it is written Sun there is box written Default and a checkbox for override Sun's parameter.....uncheck that please.....after that press the small button box Default to bring up a window called choose....select default in it and apply(this step is unnecessary but just to make sure)
Repeat the same for Background below GI.....finally you will get shadows in the render the way u had set in sketchup shadow options.....tell me if u got it or not........

Re: Lighting and Shadows
Thats pretty much it, but two things...Don't uncheck the Override Sun's Parameter thing, as those controls are your only way to adjust the sun/sky system...Don't worry about the box that says Default since you can't really set up another light for the sun (having default will use the SU sun)Damien Alomar
Generally Cool Dude

Re: Lighting and Shadows
Thank you everyone for your input. Hard to tell if it worked or not. The rendering is now just about all white! I did set the GI and Background to sky. I did use the default sun. I have shadows on in SU. There has to be something I am missing.
