  • How is V-Ray info saved in SU?

I'm wondering, what happens if someone without V-Ray opens a SU file set up for V-Ray edits something and then saves it?

Will the V-Ray data be lost?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

    Who doesn't have Vray??? ;D

Anyway, this is by no means the "exact" answer for this one, so I follow up and make sure that its on point. But most formats have an area that they reserve for plugin data. So any data that is associated with a given plugin (vray in this case) is saved in a certain place. The only way to really edit that data is to have the plugin that can read those settings, edit them, and rewrite them. If you don't have the plugin, then no editing of that portion of the file can take place, so it *should* be retained from save to save.

This is how it works with most other formats, but I am not sure if this is exactly how SU does it. SU does a number of things completely a**backwards, so I'll check and see if they break the trend on this one too.
