How did I make the alpha map ?

my question is about those trees from form fonts and so and here i found that in order to render them proerly y need the alpha map can anybody make a tutorial to render this kind of components ???? THX

Here's your tutorial....
+Open your image in photoshop or whatever image editing program you use.
+Save As a different file name so you don't destroy the original.
+With a tool like magic wand, lasso, or something else like that, select what you want to show up
+Make that area black
+Make the rest of the area white

Done
