  • HOW TO MAXIMIZE THE VRAY SYSTEM ROLLOUT

How to maximize the vray system rollout settings when you have a lot of ram?
-say 2 GB of ram (max depth = ?,min leaf =?,face/level=?,mem limit=?)

Re: HOW TO MAXIMIZE THE VRAY SYSTEM ROLLOUT

You'll only use as much ram as you need for a given calculation, so having more ram won't necessarily make your calculations go faster. Not having enough will make calcs go slower (purely because of read/write speeds w/ virtual memory).

Anyway, the settings that will allow you to "maximize" you ram usage aren't really worth playing with. Face/Leaf Level will do it, as well as changing the bucket size, but the difference is negligible and the pay off for the time tweeking is not really worth it.

Max Depth is for reflections and refractions, and should pretty much always be limited simply because there are a lot of unnecessary calculations that happen when you don't limit the reflections/refractions.

Memory limit really only comes into play when you have dynamic geometry, and the only method of dynamic geometry that is currently supported is displacement. So you can set that higher if you're using displacement, but remember that that memory will be split up per thread.
