  • impressions with sketchup to vray workflow

    Hey all,

A colleague and myself are considering recommending the purchase of Vray for our arch firm to use in-house next to Sketchup but would like to know some opinions from experienced users.

...So what experiences (good, bad, or other) does anyone have with the work flow from Sketchup to VRay.

we will be doing mostly stills but possibly animations should the client request

    thanks!

Re: impressions with sketchup to vray workflow

I have been using Vray for Sketchup since it has been released for my architecture projects. I like using it but has certain bugs that are annoying. I use it for all my projects and for the "wow" factor that you can't get from just using sketchup. You may also want to look into SU Podium. Much cheaper but I have found that it takes much longer to render.

3dsMax is better for rendering the models, tweaking and setting up cameras for flythroughs.

The workflow is simple since vray resides in sketchup as a plug-in. I suggest testing it out if you haven't already prior to purchasing since it cost more than sketch-up. Well worth the cost if you plan it use it often.

    I hope this helps.
