  • [q] sunlight and skylight _change color ??

with regular sunlight and skylight the scene looks like saturated with too much blue and yellow.
is there any way to change the sunlight and skylight to white color so the materials show their own color in the scene?

The first image is with G.I with white color and the second is with sunlight and skylight.

any comment or advise will be welcome

    thanks

Re: [q] sunlight and skylight _change color ??

There are two ways you could go about this one, and both have their advantages and disadvantages.

The first way is to change the color of the sun, which can be done through two settings. Turbidity and Ozone. Turbidity is effectively a haziness setting, with lower numbers (2 min) leading to more blue skys and higher numbers leading to hazier (amber/yellow) skies. Ozone will change the light from being more yellow (0) to more blue (1). The advantage to this is that you are "directly" setting the color. The disadvantage is that you are limited to manipulating the color through those two settings so it might be more trial and error. Also, a good setting for midday, where the sky tends to be too blue may be far to hazy as the sky sets, so something to keep in mind if you doing a series of images at different times.

The second way is to white balance the camera so that the color of the sun appears more like the desired result. This is more of a "physically correct" method, since I wouldn't be able to change the color of the sun if I was taking a photograph. Because of this, changing the time of day is not likely to have as significant effect on the tones of the image. The thing to watch out for with using white balance is when you change lighting environments. So going back and forth between an interior shot and an exterior shot will probably require different white balance settings, so you will have to remember to change them with the view.

As far as setting the white balance, just have a white surface (near white (~230)would be better) in your scene or place one temporarily. Do a quick render (doesn't need to be pretty) and take the color from the white surface (right clicking in the frame buffer will get you the color value) and input that as the white balance color.

Both of these concepts/settings are covered in the manual (although white balance doesn't have very practical examples), so you can take a look at that as well.

      Thank you so much.
But still it is not easy to control the color.
