  • Problem with transparency / Reflection

    hello everyone.

I have a problem with the intensity of a light reflection in a glassmaterial.
when I save the picture as a .png, the background of the window is transparent in photoshop. good so far, but when I fill the part of the window with a dark or similar colour in a bachgroundlayer, the reflection of the light is not as intense as in the rendering (with the background colour in environment settings). Could you please help me solve this problem. thank you very much!

I tried to upload a picture but It says that the upload folder is full.

Re: Problem with transparency / Reflection

This has to do with the transparency of those pixels. If a pixel has a certain percentage of transparency, then the visual look of that pixel will be a combination of the original pixel and whatever is behind that pixel.

Not all formats will save the transparency information in the image. PNGs will, which is why you're seeing this, but jpegs or bmps will not. Certain formats will deal with transparencies in different ways, but pngs embed that information as opposed to targas which actually separate that information out into a separate channel.

If you are using the SR RC, then you can go in to the VFB Channels rollout in options and remove the Alpha channel. The you will be able to save pngs without having to worry about the alpha coming into play.

SR = Service Release RC= Release Candidate

If you've just downloaded a build, then their's a chance you might have it. If its not on the list, then you probably have the full release which is fine. There's probably a way to remove the alpha channel in ps, but I can't remember off the top of my head
