How to set up VFB Z-Depth?

I've been trying to save a VFB Z-Depth map to use in Photoshop with Lens Blur. But I don't get a useful map. With clamping I get a very faint hint at a small portion of the image, but most of it is white. If I turn off the clamp I get a pure white image.

What do I need to do to control the Z-Depth image?

I found out that I just had to adjust the white value allot higher than I expected.

However; the z-depth map is aliased against the background enviroment. Any way to force this to alias?
