  • Texture Mapping

I'm going through the "Vray for Sketchup" manual and am now at the Texture Mapping section. #09 states, "Pull down the projection menu and change it from surface to planar." I have had no luck in figuring out where this menu is located (or what it is asking me to do). Is in in V-Ray's Materials Editor or Options or is it a Sketchup menu? Please help.

Oh dear... It appears you have found a typo in our manual. We apologize. This menu is actually found in Rhino, not SketchUp. Please ignore that section. Thank you.

Speaking of the manual, will it be updated for the SR? There's quite a few references to Rhino in there actually, and references to names in the UI which in SU got a different name.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

I am also having trouble with this section of the guide. When I create new VrayLinkedMtl from the texture all I get when I update preview is a smooth colour (similar to that of the desired texture) but not actual texture. Please help!!

          Hi.
I'm just wondering, when editing a bump or displacement map in the texture editor, what's the purpose of blur? However I increase or decrease the values, I don't notice any difference in my renders.

thomthom- We've revamped the manual a bit, although I wasn't really involved with that part. There were a few gems in there. My favorite was the pink see through material found on page 93 ::covers eyes:: As far as I know, we have corrected the errors in the manual.

Kriath- In the latest version of our product, there aren't even any VrayLinkedMtl materials at all.

zun_kian- It has to do with Mip-mapping, maybe when you're zoomed in very closely to the object the texture blurs more instead of getting pixilated? To be honest, I'm not really sure. (I know that sounds bad) I've never messed with it. I guess I could ask Joe or Damien to see if maybe one of those guys know.
