  • Distributed Rendering - 64 bit with 32 bit slaves

So we just bought 2 powerful 64bit machines...

We also have 8 other 32bit machines in the office which we have always used as render slaves, & everything worked flawlessly(about as "flawlessly" as I've come to expect anyway). But now that we're using the 64bit monsters, we can't seem to utilize any of the others for slavery purposes.

    The render progress window says:
"Connected to render host 10.85.0.14 Using 1 hosts for distributed rendering."
Everything seems terrific, but then I get the heartbreaking:
    "Server 10.85.0.14 is currently busy."

Is this something I should have foreseen before trading the family farm for a couple of new machines? Please tell me there is a workaround for this because if the 64 bit computers disable the use of the other 8 (which have 2 cores each, I might add), then we've taken a major step backwards in terms of productivity.

I solved the problem. I called and spoke with someone at ASGVIS & they told me that there should be no problems with 32bit & 64 bit machines. The machine that was giving me problems seems to be working fine now, which I think can be credited to either uninstalling AVGfree or by fiddling with the firewall settings. Also, I installed the latest DRSpawner on all the other machines & everything works.
