  • Vray Materials

    Hi,

I have a query concerning the Vray mats you can use. I have downloaded the materials for vray sketchup, uploaded here in the repositary.

My question is if I wish to build this collection with some materials such as the really nice Arroway is this possible?
I ask because when loading the materials from SU they are a .vismat.
Does this mean they have to be specifically created for Sketchup?

    Re: Vray Materials

Theres a difference between materials and textures. Textures are just images that describe certain aspects of the surface...its color, its reflection, its glossiness. Materials are the assembly of those individual pieces of information, whether they be textures or parameters, into a format and structure with additional information needed to render it. Textures are just images, so they can be used everywhere. Materials are much more proprietary. The Arroway stuff is just textures, so you'll be able to use them all, but you will have to assemble those images into materials. Hope that explains things a little better.
