  • Grass... again!

    Right guys,

    im having an absolute nightmare trying to create decent looking grass... i have trawled the forums and tutorials but cannot manage to get some decent looking grass. it is driving me nuts!!!

    so if you wouldn't mind... please help!

    so i have created an area that i want to make into grass within sketchup.... please just humour me and if you have the time state every step to getting green!!!

    i really cant' work out what im doing wrong!

      1. copy this pic to your computer http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...10ko/GRASS.jpg
      2. make new material and click on the "m" by diffuse color
      3. in "type" select bitmap and click on the little "m" by "file", select the grass picture.
      4. go back into maps and check the displacement box and click the "m" next to it
      5. repeat step 3 and change multiplier to 3 (height of grass)
      6. group all the faces and all the edges of the faces (hidden too) and apply the grass material.
      7. RENDER!

      this is the best ive gotten with grass. i only played around with it for an hour so if i get better results i'll let you know. the top of the grass (the very tips of the blades) will be where the face is at so if your gonna have something siting on grass make sure you either lower it into the face or raise the face up. otherwise it'll just be floating on top of the grass... ok good luck let me know how it goes =)
