stefanq,
After testing the scene i found what dissabled the SU shadows: Physical Camera
And i always use the physical camera.
it's too bad that i can't combine all together- Physical Cam. + HDRI GI + Hdri background + SU shadows :'(
Aah! That was a bummer. I always use Physical Camera as well.
ey i have download the scene....every thing ok but the problem its that i want to make some test with reflective materials and see what happen ....but i couldn´t render the material on the render frame.....i don´t know wich option i have tu check or uncheck for make it posibble....
can you helpme with that? becouse i like the vispot configuration but i need to see the materias on my scene....
ey I have done that...but nothing happened....there is something wrong (something wired) with the model because I tried to render it with others configuration and the same problem persist........however.....don’t worry , I’m just telling you to keep you up to date with …. ;D seeyou
I tried this in 1.00.73 and it doesnt work. May be i am doing something wrong.
First i tried without physical camera with default lights and sketchup shadows on but came out with soft shadows and not like directional. Second time i tried with physical camera with 250 multiplier for both slots HDSRI in environment.
In both cases i have HDRI loaded in both slots GI and backgroud and defalut lights and shadows on.
and one more thing, any idea why those paintings on the wall renders partially and some of them is just grey boxes? You can see in sketchup screenshot how i want light to come in through those colored translucent glasses.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.
ey i can´t see the render configuration but if you want light to come in through those colored translucent glasses you have to load sky on the GI environment....
try using the default configuration of vray SR1....
or...:
load a gi_irmap_low.visopt an them check....
-physical camera
-GI: sky:...here is the secret for the kind of shadow that you want to make.....the intensity multipler control the light, mybe you need to reduce it to 0.1
-indirect ilumination: irradiance + montecarlo
or....:
i load a render configuration on its respective section of download (ASGvis.COM :: File Repository )...i nemed it "ONLY INTERIOR RENDER" that worck for me during a long time..... http://www.asgvis.com/index.php?opti...c=select&id=16
i hope that work ;D
i have the seme problem with HDRI on the background.....i can´t make it show on my reflections.....
thanks Kechup.
but if i do sky in GI slot then i am not illuminating scene with hdri image.
i want to use hdri to illuminate the scene and at the same time get directional sketchup shadow. i dont mind not using physical camera. it would be nice if i can use physical camera though
Can someone please help? I try to render this in 1.00.73 with hdri in both slots but directional shadows dont come through, like the one shown in stefanq's staircase 2nd image. any help would be greatly appreciated.
i am happy to post scene file onto our ftp site if someone wants to try it with 1.00.73
rshah, it's because you have Physical Camera turned on. read the following:

i tried without physical camera as well as i said in my first post. I tried two version one with physical camera and treating hdri in both lsots like light and bumping up multiplier high enough as free agent said earlier in this post. I then tried one without physical camera and using multiplier as 6 for hdri in both slots. in both case i didnt get directional shadows at all.
Can you put your scene here please? http://rapidshare.com/
I hope I will help you. How do you want the shadows? From left or right?
And I think I will use the default materials, just to check the lightning, and probably I will delete the glass, but we will figure it out don't worry!
Thanks a lot stefanq.
Unfortunately i cant upload on rapidshare due to our company firewall settings. It keeps me blocking. But i will get the scene uploaded on our ftpsite and email you login details. Can you please give me your contact email id?
Sorry for the delay in response. Due to time pressure, we submitted one wlit with GI and physical camera. Without HDR.
But it would be good to know why HDR in background and Environment slots doesnt work. I am using 1.0.73.
I have uploaded model on to our ftp site. I have emailed you login details to your gmail id that i found on this forum.
I want light coming from left specially from the top left colored glazing. I have setup shadow settings in sketchup. so if you turn on shadow you should see it.
Let me know if you have any problem login to ftpsite
Thansk very much for your help. I am really grateful for this.
NB: Please let me know if anyone else wants to help out and i can email you login details.
I finally got a blended SU sky and HDRI environment working, thanks to this thread and Thom's advice elsewhere about how to get around the fact that VfSU won't let you increase the multiplier of a blended HDRI. There's an obscure logic to it, but the key is the 0.99 blend to compensate for the intensity of the sky/sun, achieving roughly a 50/50 mix between HDRI and sun (see deliberate conflicting shadows below).
