Manual's Tutorials Not Working

I dont know if im being very stupid or not but I cannot get the manauls tutorials to work with the Chair files that are given to me. I am using the default settings and the right chair file but it still gives me odd results that are different from the tutorial.

Please let me know what im doing wrong, if anything.
