  • saving components

If I create light fixture, set the vray material, light setting etc. I cant seem to save it as a component or its own model and bring in the light fixture. I use this in a parking lot with 50 lights so the saving is important

You probably using the original release of vfsu. For having vray light in component you'll need a service release update (the latest is 1.0.74 witch allows to add the light in to a component)

But does it allow you to export a component with light in it and load it in another scene?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

I don't know because I'm using the Original release.

This is not a possibility right now because SU doesn't have a way for us to deal with saving/loading our data to/from components. Because of this, lights can be saved within components, and materials don't transfer well within saved components. Within a single document, that stuff is fine.

            Re: saving components

Just did a test where I placed an Omni Light inside a component and added some V-Ray layers to the materials.

As expected the V-Ray materials didn't load when I loaded the component in a new model. However, the Omni Light did load! Which is great. I can now start making V-Ray light fixture library.
