SR2 will never be ready. If you read my post and the news page its clearly stated that this will be the last public offering that is based on the original full release. From now on we are focusing on VfSU 2 (or whatever we call it) for a number of reasons. Basically, we're at a point now that the things that we need to add are too significant to try and slip them into the current builds. Either they will require too much time, or require really getting in deep into the workings of the current processes. Within the context of a Service Release (which is generally just for bug fixes and minor feature additions), this would be too much. The first service release didn't follow this to closely because of how much needed to be changed, but its not beneficial to us to try to make huge leaps like that within minor versions. It takes too long and there's too much of a possibility to introduce new bugs, which is kinda the goal of a service release ;D.
sorry to ask a dumb question, but what will happen to all my vismat and visopt when i upgrade from 1.00.73 to 1.5? Would all my vismat still work with 1.5?
yea they'll work fine. Each version is backward compatible in terms of materials you already have. Older versions won't be able to read all the files from the newer versions though.
Thanks for the update and info, I wish Google were as open about their plans for updates and versions, these forums remind me of the old SketchUp forums when the @last team would respond several times a day and be very forthcoming with reasons why features would or would not be implemented... I miss that!
No, changes in the scene will not be registered when using V-Ray animation. Essentially, for static animations all the geometry must stay the same, so the scene state on frame 1 is used and the camera transforms for each of the other pages is registered for the animation. I think that we'll be making a few changes that will allow us to render pages individually, which will allow for things like objects facing a camera to update.
