  • Will VISMAT CNVRTR for Max9 work with MAX2009 ? Is a 2009 version expected soon?

    Damien

I know its kinda stupid to ask, but will the Vismat convertor for Max 9/32 bit work with Max2009/32bit ? And if it doesn't (as would be the straightforward answer), is a 2009 version cooking to be released sometime soon?

(I've just purchased Evermotion's Archshaders Vols 1 & 2 for V-Ray (Max) and it has more than 2500 materials (complete with bumps, map co-ords, refl/refrac et al) just itching to be converted to Vismats). I have 2009 Max installed currently.

    Macho

PS WE AT 3DADS ARE EAGERLY WAITING FOR YOUR ANNOUNCEMENT OF RELEASE OF 1.00.75 TODAY !

    You could just try it...

Mapping co-ordinates won't transfer though. That's purely in the limited SU control.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Don't know really. And asking around, none of the programmers no for sure, since they haven't dipped into Max in quite a while. Best thing to do would be to try it out. Since half of it is MaxScript based there's a decent possibility that it will still work. We'll take a closer look later though.

As far as the materials themselves, I'd take the maps and run with 'em. Textures are 90% of most materials anyway, the other 10% is just putting them in a slot and making some small tweeks. I know it would be better to convert them, but at least your not completely up a creek.

I have Max 2009 Design and the vismat converter does not work. I get an error at startup that says it's not compatible with this version. I'm working out trying to render my sketchup models right in Max. Here's a good tutorial I found yesterday for sketchup to max workflow - http://3dsmaxrendering.blogspot.com/...does-work.html
