  • SR 1.5 is it safe?

Is there any info what has been fixed in this release?
I'm still using v1.0 because of all the bugs in the service release.
Please fill in what is fixed and what isnt.
I dont want to jump aboard if there are any major bugs in the 1.5 version since 1.0 is working fairly well for me.

    What about parsing times?
What about smooth objects getting unsmoothed?
    What about Distributed rendering?
    What about crashes?

Re: SR 1.5 is it safe?

Smooth objects bug is still present. Haven't tried distributed rendering, but didn't have any problems with 1.00.74.

The SR1.5 is great. I have stuck with the original release at my office, but with this release I'm now planning to deploy the SR1.5. It a great improvement over SR1.0 and the original version. So far, my testing of the SR1.5 has not had any critical problems. There seem to be that the disappearing groups bug is back again, but converting the group to component works fine as a workaround.

I'd really recommend this version. At least give it a spin on a test machine.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Any workaround for the "unsmooth" bug?
      And what about parsing times?

Workaround for smooth is to explode and regroup.
If you have a component you need to do that for, make one component unique, explode and regroup that, ensure that the new component have the same scale and axis location, then use the Component manager to replace all the rest of the old components with the new one.

        Parsing time:
v1.00.74 had a bug where LC would take a long time. I've not experienced this myself in SR1.5, but the release notes says it might occur. Work around is unticking Batch Render.
But it the SR1.x versions will take some longer time to process the scene before it start rendering because the original version didn't include everything. No way around that. But note that groups and components with materials applied to them instead of the actual geometry will increase the processing time. Avoid applying materials to groups and components.

          SR 1.5 is gooood.
          Cat4fish
but maybe it can not save visopt (option setting) when sky map is on environment, by my test only.
ps,OK , uninstall old version and make a clean setup .Now no more.
