Exterior Daylit Scene - Scalloping Effect

I am working on a quick study model. I printed it out and the sky and ground are scalloping. I've not had this issue before, even though I've mocked up several things and printed them out. Anyone have any idea what causes this with an exterior daylit shot?

Sorry Joe, but I have no idea what you mean by scalloping. Do you mind explaining a little further? maybe an example if you've got it.

scalloping is where, either on screen, or more typically when printed, the change in the tone of the colors is not smooth. So it looks like there are very faint rings of color but not continuous color transitions. How do you attach an image? When I click on the insert image button, I get this text, [img][/img], but am not sure how to proceed.

You'd need to host the image on another site (like imageshack.us or photobucket or something), then use that image link to put into the post.

As for what you're referring too, I have seen it, although I'm not sure exactly what its related too. I do remember that it was sometimes an issue with the display not being set to 32 bits, but that seams probably unlikely here.

What you're describing I've only ever heard referred to as "banding" and it's usually most obvious on screen in image formats with high compression, especially jpg and sometimes LZW compressed tiffs on very gradiented areas of images. If it looks fine on your display, but is printing with banding then you need to look into your printer settings as it's nothing to do with VRay. If it's evident even on your display, what multiplier are you using for your background? Extremely high background multipliers (which I've accidentally set when switching between jpg and HDRIs) can cause severe banding to appear, but that wouldn't explain why it's appearing on the ground too.

There's no control of jpeg compression (at the moment), so that may be the culprit here. Try saving as a png or bmp and that will get around the compression issue.
