    Re: Material Editor resets all the settings

    I've nailed it!
    If you do not change anything in the Option window, all material changes are lost. If you however make a small change, the material changes will.

    Try this:
    * Set up a material
    * Change an option - Output size, Batch Render, anything really, but those two worked for me.
    * Save file
    * Reload file
    -- The materials is now changed.

    Then try again, do the same, but this time without editing any options. ... Materials are lost.

    The reason I never noticed this is because I always fiddle with the options.

    ASGVis, can you confirm this? Any chance for a quick fix for this?

    So folks, until a fix is made, ensure you do something with the Option window, then your materials will be saved.

        Nope, deleted, purged, saved, closed and reopened... and every time beige is back!

        I'm seeing the same behaviour in my existing files now, tried to delete a reflection layer, but reopening makes it reappear.

        Amazing job with the workaround Thom! I just tried selecting the Options editor (without even changing any settings) and it seems to fix it too. Like you said, it's a difficult bug to spot because it's so rarely you'll edit a file without opening the Options editor.

        Is this new to v1.05.03 I wonder?

          That's interesting. Just open and close the Options window. Nice stop Jackson. Makes the workaround even easier.

          Now the, off to salvage my burn dinner... :'(

            Re: Material Editor resets all the settings

            That's great guys, all united by my suffering waha ha ha =D

            That workaround is similar to the one i described before, if u change the name of any material, or add a new vray material to the editor, then your changes will be saved. It's like vray needs u to mess around with the settings as a condition to save your material changes.
            It's bizarre, and now i don't know if i've ''infected'' everyone or if this bug was always there, awaiting to be found.
            But it's great to see u guys trying to resolve that with me now, cause i was starting to get really mad with myself, wondering i was the only one with the bug

              Re: Material Editor resets all the settings

              I was in a bunch of meetings today, but just wanted to let you guys know that I'm keeping track of this. In my 5 minutes trying to test this I didn't get anywhere, but I'm going to be taking a much closer look at this soon.

              BTW, its Thanksgiving over here in the states, so there's we won't be in the office for the rest of the week. I'll still be checking in on things from home (as I tend to do anyway) in between cranking out a crazy animation for my friend's thesis.

                        No, not yet...my whole vfsu situation was kinda messed up and I've been pretty busy recently...I went through yesterday and did the uninstalls/reinstalls that I needed to, so I'll be taking a look at this later on today.

                          I was able to repeat this here fairly easily. We'll take a look at this, but I imagine there's some sort of event that the material editor isn't firing off after a modification.

                            Me and my colleagues have already sent emails reporting this bug to the asgvis support team, but they dont seem to care as much as you guys care in these forums, cause we've never received any answer...apparently the contact support service here is just another fairy tale, like the other companies.
                            So i'ld like to thank all of u again who helped me in this forum.

                              I've not had that experience. Sorry to heard that you feel you haven't been heard. But I'd urge you to give them another chance. Some times response time is longer due to problem verifying the issue, extra load on the support channel or holidays.

                                All of us here care, whether its the people who deal with support issues (in the forum or through tickets) or our programmers. If you're basing you're experience off of the responses a few months ago, then I can tell you that we're much better now that we have someone who's whole job is dealing with tickets. Even before then, our responses (or response time I should say) was not an issue with caring, but just having such a massive load of tickets within our system. I can tell you that every ticket gets someone's attention here, and I personally see almost every ticket that takes more than a day or two to go through our system. I've spent the last 2+ years of my life working with support, and I can tell you that if I didn't care, then I would have stopped doing this quite a while ago.
