Trying to install our second copy of vray onto a newer machine than the laptop that is it currently on and it says “that serial has been used the maximum times”

Ive un-installed V-Ray (as best as I can, running the install exe and choosing un-install). The thing is, if I reinstall it on the laptop it doesn't even ask for a code or activation it just runs straight from the off which suggests that the code is still embedded in there somewhere. What am I doing wrong here ? desperately to get this serial on the new machine so need help as I have a boss here breathing down my neck and a deadline rapidly approaching for an extremely important client >

    Re: uninstall help

If you need another activation, the please email authorizations@asgvis.com with you're serial number and they'll add another one for you. We try to get extra activations as quick as possible, so usually its not that much of a turn around time on those at all.

You're not doing anything wrong with the uninstall process. When we uninstall we don't remove your licensing information because most of the time, the uninstall process is part of upgrading to a newer version. If we removed the licensing information, then each upgrade would require activating again, and people would run into the need to request an activation even more than they currently do.

      Re: uninstall help

cheers Dalomar, Marcus at CS has emailed be back telling me he's added a couple of installs on our current serials so we can at last make them into floating ones, ive done all this but but his email says to uninstall vray from all the machines and reinstall it again this time pointing to the new network server but again i'm back to square one cause every time I re-install vray on the 3 previous machines (an extra one no because I had to activate a 30 trial on my PC just to get some work out)> how on earth do we get back to the activation / floating licence dialogue box ?

        Re: uninstall help

The best way to get back to that dialog is to delete the actual license file. If V-Ray doesn't find it, then it will pop up asking you what you want to do again. You can find that file in [root]:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ASGvis\Licensing on XP and [root]:\Program Data\ASGvis\Licensing on Vista. In each case, the Application Data or Program Data folder will be hidden, so you'll either have to type it in to the address bar, or show hidden folders within folder options. Once you get there, delete VRFLLicense2.xml and you should be good to go.
