  • Fabrics and Soft Materials

I am working on an interior shot of a hospital exam room and want to drape a blanket and put some pillows in the scene to soften it up a bit, what is the best way to go about this? I have tried this before on drapery and they come out a little jagged and not as soft as I would like. Comments and direction would be very appreciated, Thank You!

    Re: Fabrics and Soft Materials

    Hi Joe,

In my opinion sketchup does a bad job when it comes to modeling organics and cloth materials. Its possible to find a few ruby scrips which will give you a little more freedom to manipulate surfaces, but in this case I always go to a 3DS Max Model. You can find alot of models at www.archive3d.net which are all .3DS extensions. If you are using Sketchup PRO simply chose import and select the .3DS file. Doing this will use up alot more ram and can make your model laggy, so I keep the 3DS files to a minimum,
Other than that, you should be good to go

    Cheers

Thanks Sheldon, I've gotten that far, also using the terrain tool in Sketchup works. But does anyone have any good rendering options settings to use, sometimes I get mixed results model to model. It would be nice to have my own library of materials that will be consistent from project to project. Any ideas would help out mucho!

      Thanks!
