  • Importing 3DS Models

    Hi,

Ive been importing 3DS models into SU but it seems that about 98% of the time the model groups get scrambled around and mixed up. Does anyone know how to prevent this without using more software? Id like to keep it to a min.

I found exporting to DWG preserves the group coordinates but the final product is not too scale and has no groups.

Im not that great with MAX so if someone could leave a little more detailed explanation on how to solve this issue that would be great.

    Much Thanks

    Re: Importing 3DS Models

I'm not happy about SU's .3ds import. It doesn't import instnaces properly for starters. And textures on backfaces also get messed up.

What are you exporting from? Max?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

      Re: Importing 3DS Models

I have alot of models from evermotion which I import to SU. I don't mind re texturing the models its just having to short all the scrambled pieces and rebuild it thats a pain.
Just wondering if other people have the same issue and came up with a solution.
