Exterior shading intensity

How would I go about changing the intensity of the exterior sun shadows? They look ok, but they are really dark, and the building is washed out a bit. How would I get them softer, there wasnt a clear answer on the forums. Thanks

softer shadows? I think its under the Environment settings of the sun/sky: increasing the size of the sun would soften the shadow.

what is your exterior settings?
