  • -Cant find a sun/sky feature-

    Hi guys,

I am kinda new to this scene to admit, so I encountered my first problem. I have recently installed vray SR 1.5 for SU7. Now I tested out some lightning and stuff and it works. But I want to add a sun/sky like on most pictures. Now the problem is I cant find the sun and sky (toolbar) or anything in its direction. I only know that there is a vray_sunsky.dll file in the vray plugin folder. Can someone help me on how to add the sun and sky?

    Cheers and regards, Dennis

In the environment rollout click on the little "m" next to GI. This will pop up the Texture Editor, and on the side change the Type to Sky. Click Ok and repeat that for the background as well. As long as you have Default Lights enabled in the Global Switches rollout, then the sun and sky will now be added.

Although that's the main thing you need to do, you're not completely done. You also need to enable the Physical Camera because without it your image will be too bright. To do this open up the Camera rollout and enable the Physical Camera.

      Hi,

You also can add HDRI images (sky) to your scene.
Go to "Environment" / GI and Background / click "M" and for each one, choose "Sky". Then, select "Environement" and add the HDRI image.
You can find some nice HDRI images on the web.

      Regards,
      Luis

This question seems to pop up almost every week.

It would be good if VfSU would get an 'infinite light' solution just as in VforC4D. In Max it probably exists as well but with a different name.

How difficult would that be to code?

I know, I know, Sketchup doesn't allow this and that.....
        It would be handy though.
