Hey all,
I have just downloaded the 30 day vray for SU so we can compare it to some other renderers before we buy. I have tried all of the others from kerkythea, podium, lightup, accurender nxt, and another one (forgot which).
Soo..that said, I am looking forward to working with this program b/c it has so much promise. I am going to be working thru the manual over the weekend before I start.
I have a couple of questions before I start:
-I can't seem to locate any video tutorials for Vray/SU. Are there any? Or should I be using the videos for Rhino since the techniques are similar? I will be working thru the su tutorial PDF's...
-Are there any threads anyone can recommend for beginning with the program?
-I have looked briefly at the forum and do not see too many threads about lighting and Vray/SU. It seems that with all of the other programs, lighting is the big hurdle. I have also looked through the manual, and there is not to much about lighting fixtures in there. We design exhibits, and there is almost never any exterior lighting, it is all from lights in the ceiling, built in to exhibits, etc. using a lot of GI would not create a realistic look. Where can I go to get more information and tips on lighting? should i stop thinking like a lighting designer and more like a modeler?
Thanks! I can't wait for monday to start.
