All materials are automatically linked now. Open the V-Ray material editor and locate the name of the material as it is in SketchUp.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

well, there are other differences now too, like in previous releases, the sky (blue on top, brownish on bottom) was automatic, now the background is black...

there is also the toon shader, although I was never able to find it... etc

The defaults were changed because they were causing more harm than good. You can get back to the old defaults as the visopt is still in the folder. The current defaults are labeled as Default_SketchUp.visopt and the old ones are just Default.visopt

Right click on Scene Materials, Add Material, last on the list is AddVRayToonMaterial

In the VRay folder in SU's plugin folder there's a readme file

          C:\Programfiler\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Plugins\VRayForSketchUp\VfS_Readme.txt

Some of it is mentioned in the announcement of the release: http://asgvis.com/index.php?option=c...0&topic=5167.0

Along with the release there's a .vizop with the old settings. The folder it's located in should be the default folder that's presented to you.
