  • Output image

    Hi,
I wonder what's a good file format to save my otput images. The default is PNG, but is it a good format?
I realised that when the render is done, before saving, it has more quality than after saving it in PNG.

    Thank you,
    Gustavo

PNG format includes the alpha channel witch means when you save the image it cuts out the background.
Jpg format saves the image as you see it in theV-Ray frame buffer.

Not if you remove the Alpha channel from the VFB list.
For 8bit images I use PNG files are they stores the images in a loss-less compression, as oppose to JPEGs where you get artifacts. I usually do post work on the renders so I don't want the JPEG compression loss. (In general I only use JPEGs for photos, not graphics.)

If you want more colour depth for even better colour correction control in post, save as an .hdr image.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.
