  • Can anybody kindly help me please?

    hey there,

I have been wondering for ages about this and have never found out the reason.

In sketchup, when you use the "position camera" tool and put the camera somewhere, the camera goes a bit weird and cuts off a bit of the model, and it is only fixed when you press on "zoom extents"

why does this happen and how can i fix it so that i can position my camera inside a building for example to do renders inside? because vray renders those "cuts/bug" when the camera is "broken"

i hope i've made myself clear, and thanks for the help in advance x

    Can you post a screenshot?

Not 100% sure what you mean by that it cuts bits off. But I wonder if it's camera clipping. It happens when you try to zoom in on really small things as SU doesn't deal with really really small stuff. It can also occur if your model is positioned a long way from origin. Often happen if you import DWG files where the stuff drawn in the DWG is located in real world co-ordinates.

That's the camera clipping effect. I'm guessing that your model is located far away from the axis origin. Or that you have some random geometry located far off.

It's not clear from your post, but when you use the camera position tool you have to press the left mouse button to set the position of the camera and then while continuing to hold down the left mouse button you drag the cursor to the target you want the camera to aim towards and release the mouse button. If you don't do this (i.e. only click once) you are setting the camera position, without giving it a target which may result in strange display results.
